Gear selector
The gear selector works in the same principle as the Vauxhall gear selector. The gear selector is bolted onto the gearbox and has a linkage that moves the gears into position, unlike the Vauxhall’s that are a direct fit to the gearbox cluster.
This system has an advantage where it is highly unlikely gear oil can reach the motors of the selector and contaminate them, but there is also a disadvantage where the linkage can become seized.
